Particular Ideas, for their second edition, are delighted to announce the launch of a new print with the Canadian artist Nicholas Cheveldave . Created using the silkscreen process, each edition has been individually hand-finished by the artist with a glitter impasto, resulting in fifty unique variations. A new interview by Francesca Gavin has been commissioned to coincide with the artwork's release.

Untitled, 2021, presents a singular outdoor lounge chair taken from the artist’s large archive of images appropriated from the internet. Cheveldave has altered the found image to reference the monochromatic film negative; the image has then been altered further by being turned into a screenprint, with the artist utilizing old-fashioned, manual techniques to revive the subject, whilst also creating something deeply nostalgic. Thematically it forms part of Cheveldave’s most recent series of works based around the idea of the negative image. The series looks at the construction of identity and the interchangeability of memories, through the way that we continuously collect and reshare images online to create new representations of ourselves. We endlessly trawl the internet, browsing predetermined paths set by algorithms. We are lured in by clickbait and the wormhole of new and old images that seemingly has no beginning or end. It is only when our eyes focus on the glitter impasto marks lying on the surface of Untitled, 2021, that the illusion is broken and we are once again confronted with reality.

Nicholas Cheveldave (b. 1984 in Victoria, Canada completed his MFA at Goldsmiths, London in 2014.
