We are proud to present Currently in New York, Janne Tuunanen’s first publication with Particular Ideas, gathering nine years of photographs made across New York City’s outer edges, shuttered garages, empty brownstone stoops, storefronts lit low and gold at the end of the day. Largely absent of people, the images instead hold what's left behind: a coin fished from a storm drain, mica caught in the pavement, the particular light that falls across a brownstone stair.

Accompanying the photographs is original writing by Christine Marella, whose poem moves alongside the images to trace memory, absence, and the small, unrepeatable moments a city holds on to.

Photographer Janne Tuunanen has collaborated with institutions like the Royal College of Art and the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York. His works have been published in magazines such as Port, Pylot, Dwell, and Wallpaper.
